This Lego building table was a last minute Christmas gift for my son. I decided to build it 5 days before Christmas. I used 8/4 Alder for the legs and Beech for the sides. I was not able to get all the pictures I wanted when I was building, since I was in such a rush to get it done. Even with the short time frame I was able to get the base all assembled and finished. I also cut the plywood top and framed it with beech. I will post more pictures when I get finish on the top.
Here you can see I used a mortise and tenon joint to join the sides to the legs.
The mortising machine with a stop makes quick work of this. I first set the stop to obtain the measurement that I wanted from the top which was about 1/2 inch. I then adjusted the stop to the right which gave me the 1 1/4 height that I wanted. I was then able to move the part back to the left to remove the middle portion of the mortise.
I cut the legs to length with my Incra Miter1000HD.
As you can see this miter gauge is so versatile in how you can set it up. I was able to set up the stop very quickly and my cuts were perfect every time.
